Happy Easter

Sunday, March 23rd, 2008

Last night was the second to last night here so it was PoFolks for dinner  for six and then Jokers for eight. The women won but not by much. Today is our last day. Breakfast at Corams for four. Then Church. Then getting ready to go. And then Golden Corral for six for dinner. Below is Corams. The food is actually very good as long as you don’t look at the cooking area.

Friday, March 21st, 2008

Stopped at Seaside on our way home from Navarre beach yesterday. Had a drink with our Daughter and Son in Law at Bud and Alleys. Great view.

Old Bay

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

Eight of us had dinner at Old Bay, an excellent seafood restaurant in Ft Walton Beach. The Steamer for two was enormous and if it weren’t for the mussels and oysters I would have tried it.

Seaside

Saturday, March 15th, 2008

A long day. Took John and Nancy and their daughter Barbara down 30A to Seaside. Wandered and then had lunch at Bud and Allys. Then drove through Watercolor and got back around 4 PM. Left at 5 PM for Friday Fest, a once a month downtown Panama City Festival (old cars, food, vendors and music). Went to St Andrews for dinner at Captain’s Table and then to the Granite Cafe for Green Beer except I opted for regular and Betty had wine. Got home at 10 PM.

Meanwhile, back at the Mongolia Grill

Monday, March 10th, 2008

The upstairs of the Grill is a museum. Kind of like our basement.

Before cell phones.

Portable typewriter. It’s kind of like a laptop except all it does is type. No memory. No Calculations. No pictures. And you needed copy sets and if you made a Typo then you had to white out the typo on each copy and retype. In the military you could only make 7 mistakes (I think) per page. Any more and you had to retype the page.

Before CD’s and Ipod’s. The song “I’m looking over a four leaf clover” predated the Grateful Dead.

Magnolia Grill

Friday, March 7th, 2008

On Wednesday we went up to Ft Walton to play golf at Hurlbert AFB and to have dinner with Leo and Lois. We had a coupon for a bottle of wine and one two for one dinner so the four of us got $47 off dinner. I love a deal.

donuts

Wednesday, January 30th, 2008

Leons: Looks bad but they have great donuts. My Navy friend (you always have to be concerned with Navy friends) is always trying to convince the woman who works there that she should not serve me. I almost have her telling Navy jokes.

Locals and National Chains

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

On the way to the movies (The Bucket List)(best we have seen this year) (also the only one) we stopped at Smitty’s Barbeque for lunch. A previous owner was into model airplanes and they were hanging all over the ceiling.

After golf yesterday four of us went to Applebees for dinner. Got to use one of the gift certificates. They are in Mardi Gras mode. The hostess with the beads and mask agreed to a picture, giggling all the way. Should have done the red eye eliminator.
